Silurian Period to recent, 428-0 Ma Lycophytes were found in the Devonian period and continue to live in modern times. Lychophytes reproduce by spores and grew to be 100 feet tall in the past. Their remains have formed some of the largest coal mines in the world. Some modern mosses, ferns and quillworts have evolved from this organism.
