About Charles Krampah
Charles Krampah started his career as a beauty and fashion photographer in Ghana, West Africa, and is currently living in Fayetteville, AR, where he’s working towards an MFA in Studio Art with an emphasis on Photography. His work uses video and portraiture as a mode of coming to terms with the feeling of displacement and connection to Americans of the African diaspora. Capturing the experience of being away from home and the impact distance has had on his relationships, self-perception, and faith.
As an African artist living in America, I am learning to employ mythological themes to explore the elements of my psyche. Through these portraits, I investigate my relationship with my environment. The intent is to develop a prophetic myth of my existence, a process of individuation.
