Collection: Brokenness As Strength Gallery
We are the sum of our experiences–both good and bad. The difficult experiences of life have the power to make us strong and resilient and give us a character like the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi–mending broken pottery with gold or silver. We can see this at play in the natural world, in the complex textures weathering marks on rocks and wood or in Krummholz–the way some trees are shaped by fierce winds. Similarly, these artworks show how beauty can be made from the hardships of life. The random cracks and imperfections in both the abstract and representational pieces illustrate how brokenness yields strength and beauty.
