About Gala Reneaum Tello
Gala Reneaum Tello was born and raised in Mexico City and has made Fayetteville, Arkansas her second home since 2016. She has a love for the arts and the creative community which drew her into the Killian internship program at Art Ventures. Her background in business has led her to a unique interest in the business aspect of art and the positive impact it can have on the community. Gala holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and is working towards her Bachelor of Arts focused in Studio art, both from the University of Arkansas. Her background includes working in Human Resources Management for over 4 years and serving as a Summer Peer Ambassador twice at the University of Arkansas School of Art in 2021 and this year supporting logistics and assisting studio classes for high school students.
My paintings and mixed media artworks explore my identity through elements of Latinx culture, mental health awareness, emotional psychology, and personal objects. More specifically, my work represents visual and conceptual intersections between personal experiences related to immigration, cultural identity, anxiety, depression, self-acceptance, and relationships with family members. My work also is represented and expressed through emotionally valuable objects that have a personal connection to me, and my life. I want people to feel emotion when they look at my art, and for them to think and reflect on their own experiences, and how those have shaped their own life. Art is most thoughtfully expressed when it forces people to step into a realm of emotional awareness, connection with their surroundings, and comfortability with their own personal feelings.
